Legacies

Legacy giving – remembering BGS in your will

We are always most grateful to receive bequests, which ensure continued support for BGS in the future. Past bequests have provided buildings, bursaries and scholarships that continue to benefit pupils today.

Legacies of cash, shares or other assets are free of inheritance tax. We hope that bequests will be unrestricted, allowing BGS to direct funds to areas most in need.

Key areas for support are bursaries, buildings and general purposes.

If you would like to help BGS by means of a legacy, further details are found in our legacy pack, available from the Development Office: contact sbromwich@bgs.bristol.sch.uk

The Nicholas Thorne Society

Named after one of our founding benefactors, the Nicholas Thorne Society has been formed to acknowledge and thank these special donors during their lifetime. Membership of the Nicholas Thorne Society is automatic for those who make provision for BGS in their wills, and the society meets each autumn at BGS. Currently there are 40 members and they are known only to each other, the Headmaster and the Director of Development.
